I wonder how it must feel to be
Trapped
Surrounded by thick clear skin
Skin that contains you
Necessary for life…..stifling life
And each time we bring light into ours, do we take from yours?
Your body withers and shrinks but the light remains
One strong breath
One final exhale
Your body is now unshapely and wet
Gray smoke rises and disappears into the night
Only to leave behind the sweet aroma that is you
You live in the air we breathe
Your aura, apple with a hint of cinnamon
Pleasant yet unavoidable
You continue to rise and linger
Your body hardens, skin remains
And I wonder how it must feel to be
Free
